Below are some FAQs to help you make an informed decision that is right for you.
FAQs
What should I do if I am currently travelling?
One of the benefits of booking with a travel expert is having an advocate during a crisis. We’re here to help you arrange alternative flights home or to make other travel decisions. If we don’t know the answers to your questions, we can find them for you. If you need to stay longer than expected, be sure to contact us or your insurance company to extend your medical coverage.
Can I reschedule my trip that was booked with Bonaventure Travel?
If you booked a trip with a Bonaventure travel specialist, we can help you reschedule or cancel flights, hotels, and excursions. Most airlines, hotels, and tour operators are offering flexible options for rescheduling. If your trip is in March or April, please contact us ASAP.
What should I do if I want to cancel my travel?
If you purchased Trip Cancellation and Interruption Insurance (TCII) or Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR) you should check your policy to see what is covered and by how much. If you are cancelling because of concerns about COVID-19, coverage will depend on when you purchased your insurance (before or after COVID-19 was a “known event”), the travel advisory level of the country you are travelling to, and the details of your specific policy.
If I cancel my trip, when will I receive a refund?
In the light of the high volume of rescheduled and cancelled travel arrangements, we ask for your patience as we send refunds.
How long should I wait to make my decision about cancelling or rescheduling travel?
If your trip is in the next few weeks, you will need to make decisions quickly. Please contact your Bonaventure Travel Specialist ASAP. If you are travelling in May, June or later you have time to see how the situation develops and to make decisions when there is greater clarity.
If I decide to travel, what can I do to protect myself?
Stay away from crowded places, especially indoors. Avoid touching doors and door handles or other surfaces with your hands. Open push doors with your arm. Use a paper towel or tissue to turn door handles or taps. Sanitize items that you handle frequently, such as, glasses, phones, tablets, purses etc. Frequently, wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Try not to touch your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands. Use alcohol-based hand sanitizer when soap and water are not available. Be aware of who is around you, and keep your distance from people who are coughing, sneezing, or otherwise ill.
What are airlines doing to prevent the spread of the virus?
The International Airline Travel Association (IATA) reports that most modern planes are equipped with HEPA filters that capture 99.9% of airborne microbes. The air on planes is also regularly refreshed (many times per hour) with fresh air or purified air.
What will happen if I am exposed to or contract COVID-19 while I’m travelling?
Most people who contract COVID-19 do not experience complications and recover fully. Those with compromised immune systems or underlying health issues are more susceptible to the illness. Check your insurance policy to see what is covered if you must be quarantined or hospitalized in-country. If you fly home to Canada, you will be expected to self-quarantine.
Where can I get trustworthy information?
You should check travel advisories when you plan your trip and regularly before you travel. Review US Travel Advisories, Canadian Travel Advisories, and information from the World Health Organization and the Center for Disease Control (CDC).
We thank you for your support and continued loyalty. Bonaventure Travel is committed to keeping you informed and taking care of you as a valued customer. Please take care of yourself and your family.
